When choosing your Leeds university student accommodation and place to stay, you have a few different options, depending on what year you are in. There are many rental properties on the market and lots of listings to work your way through and plenty of research to do! We want to make your decision a little easier.   

If you are going into your first year of university, typically your choice is between university halls and purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), such as a Scape property. University halls are a great option for many for student housing, but they tend to be quite basic in terms of facilities and it can be very difficult to get an en-suite room – which could mean sharing a bathroom with up to six people. At Scape, on the other hand, we have a selection of room types. But all our rooms (from en suites to studios to shared apartments) come with an ensuite bathroom as standard. Our shared spaces are premium and newly refurbished, and you have access to a range of amenities including an on-site gym and cinema room. When compared to other PBSAs, we have the most central and convenient locations, our shared spaces are of a higher spec, and we have fully trained Scape staff on-site 24/7.      

In second or third year, you will most likely no longer have the option of living in student halls, but you do have the option to move into a private residence such as a flat or sharing a house with friends. With this option, there is no guarantee of an en suite room. Typically, private accommodation rented to students is not of the highest quality, your bills won’t be included, and you have no staff support. You could instead choose to live in one of our large apartments with friends and continue to enjoy all the benefits that Scape offers, including not having to worry about bills and getting your communal areas cleaned on a regular basis.   

If you are entering your postgraduate studies in Leeds, we know that searching for places can be tricky and a hard ask in finding affordable accommodation nearby to your university. We often find that our postgraduates like living with a little more privacy in a studio or an apartment, we can offer this comfortable and private living set up.  

Leeds is full of great places to eat, with restaurants with food from around the world. Enjoy anything from delicious fine dining to quirky pop-ups and gourmet pub grub, Scape is only a short walk away from some of the best restaurants in Leeds.   

Dine in style at the Reliance, Crafthouse or Kendells Bistro, or feast on some local favourites. Poco, the Sicilian street food joint packs a punch. If it’s Japanese you’re after, Senbon Sakura offers speciality sushi and bento boxes at a surprisingly fair price. Or, if you feel like a hot slice Pizza Fella is a great stop for true Neapolitan style pizzas.  

There are also some great bars lining the River Aire, worth popping into when the sun is out. 

There’s no need to travel far for a great night out. Leeds university union is a short 10-minute walk away. Other than this, the Belgrave Music Hall is one of our favourite spots, with two bars, live music and an epic roof terrace serving up Dough Boys pizza and Patty Smith’s burgers.   

Another hidden gem is The Domino Club, tucked away below a barber and full of surprises as an underground, speakeasy-style jazz club. North Bar is worth a visit as the original craft beer bar in Leeds.   

It doesn’t matter what your music taste is, there’s a club in Leeds for you. Just around the corner from Scape is the famous Pryzm nightclub – one of the most popular nightclubs in Leeds.   

Elsewhere, there's plenty of options to enjoy a buzzing nightlife. The HiFi club has something to cater for every taste. Regular funk, soul, hip-hop, reggae, garage and disco parties fill the calendar. Tuesdays is Mixtap Project, a student party playing nothing but floor fillers. See you there!

It is also super convenient as you’re also less than a 10-minute walk from Leeds mainline train station and bus station.
