Best halloween outfits

Are you looking for a cheap and easy costume to wear to our Halloween events? We've come up with some to get you on the best-dressed list.

Halloween is the perfect excuse to go all out and dress up in your best spooky costume. It is a great time to get creative, unique and SPOOKY! However, it is tricky to do this without hurting your wallet - that’s why we’re sharing the best Halloween costumes that won't scare your pocket, just your mates.

1. Mummy

Hands down the easiest Halloween costume for students and anyone on a budget. All you have to do is spend an hour or so wrapping and alternating between loo roll and white bandages. For added drama, you can add some fake blood. Also, whilst wrapping, consider working in two halves, otherwise you'll be unwrapping every time you need to pee. Take a look at some tips on YouTube.

2. Skeleton

You can find skeleton costumes everywhere for as little as £6 or you can get creative with your face make-up. There are lots of online tutorials to help you out. We recommend this one here. Make sure you’ve got evening plans, like joining the Scape Halloween party (book on the app), or you’ll have no-BODY to go with…. Get it?!

3. Classic Witch Costume

It doesn’t get any more classic than this iconic look. Grab a long black dress and a pointy hat and voila, witch. Don’t forget the big mole and long black nails and black lipstick to match. You could even go extra gross with green face paint and a big prosthetic nose if you fancied it, how wicked. Take a look at some YouTube tutorials for inspiration!

4. Black Cat Costume

Be a black cat and give everyone years of “bad luck” this Halloween. Just simple and purrrfect. Grab yourself some inexpensive ears from Claires, Accessorise or good old Amazon and chuck on a black fit. Please try not to hiss at anyone when you are out.

5. A Ghost

The classic zero effort maximum lols. Be as elaborate or as simple as you'd like. You can go super simple and grab a white cloth and throw it over yourself with some eye holes or you can go full blown spooky ghost dress and makeup. For an alternative look, why not go for a groovy ghost vibe?! All you need is a flower power floral sheet and jobs done.

6. Scarecrow

Rock the rural look and bring a touch of the farm to your Halloween festivities with a scarecrow costume. Throw on some dungarees or old jeans, a checked shirt, and a straw hat. Paint on some stitched-on patches and add straw, string or raffia sticking out of your pockets and cuffs to complete the look.

7. Zombie

Grab some old clothes out and make them look tattered and dirty. Add some pale face paint and makeup and dark eye shadows to create the perfect zombie look. This DIY costume is super budget-friendly and perfect for those who love the undead. Go all out with this amazing make up look.

8. Superhero

Channel your favorite superhero without spending a fortune. Many costume shops offer affordable superhero masks and capes. Pair these with everyday clothing in the corresponding colors, and you're ready to save the day! To be even more cost effective, try making a cape out of an old bedsheet, or go classic Clark Kent and pair a tench coat, white shirt with glasses, with a peak of a superman tshirt under.

9. Vampire

For a budget-friendly vampire costume, all you need is a white shirt, dark trousers, a cape (which can be made from a black bedsheet), and some fake vampire teeth. Don't forget the pale face makeup and red lipstick to complete the look. Reminder to stay away from garlic!

10. Devil

Another super simple, cheap yet very effective look – throw on a red outfit and pair with some devil horns (easily picked up anywhere when the season arrives). Go all out with devil make up. Plus get yourself a little fork, it will be really fun to poke people with all night, very devilish behaviour.

Halloween doesn’t have to be an expensive night out – save yourself some pennies and try out one of our cost effective looks and go scare some people.   Don’t forget to join our Scape events which are bookable on the app!
